Song in the Night

I was woken up last night by the singing of coyotes. It is a beautiful melodious song. It was a clear moonlit night and they raised their voices for at least 15 minutes. May be it is only instinct but it could be that animals also praise their creator.

At the back of our property we have a ravine which is a wild animal track, so we often get animals come up into the yard to check us out. Nearly every morning we sight a lone coyote making his rounds, and moose come up from the ravine into the open because they feel safer. We have had bear, martin, wolf, muskrat, and deer in our yard.

The night songs remind us that the darkness we so often fear brings comfort to others and covers natures traditions from us.
