Skittles started a meme every Tuesday called Heads or Tails, basically she provides a word and we can interpret it however we like. This week it is Road.
We will be on the road later this week driving from the northern Cariboo region of British Columbia to Vancouver on the lower mainland. We start our journey on the Yellowhead Highway, which must be one of the longest roads in Canada and when we reach Prince George we turn south on Highway 97 which is also a very long road as it joins up with the Alaskan Highway on its northern end. It is quite far to travel and we will probably overnight on the way. Our friend will be looking after Annie the dog, and I think they are both excited at the prospect.
We will go through different terrain on the way, from the forested area in which we live to the semi-desert of the Thompson-Okanagan and then through the Fraser Canon into the moist lush lower mainland of the Fraser Valley. Unfortunately urban sprawl is eating up the farm lands of the lower mainland, I don't know how much longer it can be called the 'Bread Basket of BC'.
My husband is dropping me off to see my son and his family for the weekend, and he is catching the ferry across to Vancouver Island to see his daughter and grandkids. We will connect on Sunday evening and visit friends for dinner and be back on the road again Monday arriving home Tuesday very late, so there will be no Heads or Tails next week. I hope the weather will be good so I can get some interesting photos on the trip to share with you.
